As grandmother used to say.

ass-over-teakettle1

Ass over tea kettle. A euphemism for falling down hard. There is  a good chance of black ice so watch your footing tonight and in the morning.

Statement as of 5:43 PM PST on January 14, 2013
Freezing Rain Advisory

… Freezing Rain Advisory in effect until midnight PST tonight for
the greater Portland and Vancouver Metro area… the lower Columbia
and the Interstate 5 corridor in Cowlitz County…

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a Freezing
Rain Advisory for light icing… which is in effect until midnight
PST tonight.

* Timing… now through midnight tonight.

* Ice accumulations… very light… but enough to coat untreated
Road surfaces.

* Location… the greatest threat for icy roadways will be outside
of the urban centers. However as temperatures fall overnight…
untreated roads may freeze over… even in Portland and Vancouver.

* Impacts… the freezing drizzle will not produce enough ice to
damage trees or power lines. However roadways and sidewalks will
become increasingly icy this evening… especially on untreated
Road surfaces… bridges… and overpasses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions…

A Freezing Rain Advisory means that periods of freezing rain or
freezing drizzle will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving.
